Project Description
Project Overview
Durham Township’s comprehensive plan was prepared in the 1970s and after many years of discussion, the Township Planning Commission began the process of preparing a new plan. Over the years the township experienced very little new growth and continued to have a very strong agricultural community. There are also extensive areas of sensitive natural resources including the Cooks Creek watershed and an area of limestone geology. The focus of the comprehensive plan was on the protection of natural resources, the preservation of prime agricultural land and providing a development area to accommodate the township’s fair share of growth. Citizen participation was a very active and involved part of the process.
